LED TAIL/STOP LAMP - DO IT YOURSELF

LED Lights are gives good illumination as well as saves the power consumption, now a day almost all new trend vehicles uses LED tail lights, Indicators etc. This is my small effort to build a LED Tail/Stop Lamp for my   B'bird with locally available sources.

Step One

Brought 24Nos of white colour cup type LED it cost Rs. 5 each. LED voltage is 3 to 3.5V and one copper plate for build PCD which cost me Rs.50.

Mark it by using Tail lamp cover

Cut the plate it into round shape by using Hacksaw and grinder.
Step Two

Brought some ferric chloride (FeCl3) from the lab costs around Rs.75, and put sketch on the copper plate by using Insulation tape and dipped two hours in ferric chloride and washed the plate now PCB is ready. On the bulb side reflective type sticker was pasted (cost Rs.50), took holes by using 0.8mm drill bit and soldered the LED. Here I arranged 4 bulb in series connection.

Step Three

Brought one fused Tail/Stop lamp bulb and brake the glass and connect the tail piece of the bulb in to LED wires, and connect it into the holder.

 Conclusion

Before fitting the LED I have tested it for 6hrs continuously using 14V transformer. After the fitting on my motorcycle it was run more then 3000Km, faced no problem during this period. Power consumption of the Original bulb was 26Watts in full load (5W tail + 21W stop) = 2Ah. But this LED lamps consumes only around 100mAh.
